WEST DES MOINES, IOWA – April 12, 2018 – Rob and Amy Glick and family were honored with the Wergin Good Farm Neighbor Award on Friday, March 23rd, at the Cedar County Fairgrounds in Tipton, Iowa. Over 100 friends, family members and industry representatives were in attendance. Iowa Secretary of Agriculture Mike Naig presented the award sponsored by the Coalition to Support Iowa’s Farmers (CSIF), the Iowa Department of Agriculture and Land Stewardship, and WHO and WMT radio stations.

Neighbor Dan Schott nominated the Glick family for the award. Schott stated in his nomination that the Glick’s are heavily involved in their community, particularly with Farm Bureau and the 4-H program. “Rob’s father was one of my 4-H leaders as a kid,” Schott said. “Amy serves on many committees with the Cedar County Farm Bureau.” The Glick family goes even further by promoting agriculture via Facebook and other social media outlets.

The Glick family has been using good conservation methods for decades by utilizing no-till practices and cover crops. Rob also serves on the soil and water conservation committee for Cedar county.

While the Glick’s enjoy being good stewards of the land, they know that on the farm, the cows come first. Rob and Amy have an extensive herd management program in place to ensure the best care for their cattle.

The Wergin Good Farm Neighbor Award, presented by the Iowa Department of Agriculture and Land Stewardship and Iowa Ag Radio Network in partnership with CSIF, is awarded to Iowa farm families who raise livestock, and are good neighbors and stewards of the land. The award is given in honor of distinguished late WHO radio farm broadcaster, Gary Wergin.
