CSIF Sponsoring Fourth Annual “Farming is a Family Affair” Photo Contest
06-30-2017 in Livestock
WEST DES MOINES, Iowa – June 30, 2017 – To celebrate Iowa’s livestock farm families, the Coalition to Support Iowa’s Farmers (CSIF) is launching the fourth annual “Farming is a Family Affair” photo contest from July 1 through August 1, 2017 through CSIF’s Facebook page.
“A little over 97 percent of Iowa farms are family owned and operated,” said Brian Waddingham, CSIF executive director. “By participating in the photo contest, farm families have an opportunity to express life on the farm and the multi-generation teamwork it takes for a farm to be successful.”
Participants may submit their favorite photo of their farm family living in the moment by emailing ewilson@supportfarmers.com. Entrants must be Iowa residents and submissions are limited to one photo per household. The photos will be posted on CSIF’s Facebook page starting July 23 where Iowans can cast their vote by ‘liking’ their favorite photo.
Entries will be accepted from July 1 through July 22. The top three winners with the most ‘likes’ by 5 p.m., August 1 will receive a day package to the 2017 Iowa State Fair. The first-place recipient will also receive a customized Iowa farm family sign featuring the recipient’s last name.
“The Coalition to Support Iowa’s Farmers is committed to helping Iowa’s farm families carry on the tradition of raising livestock successfully and responsibly,” Waddingham said. “The photo contest is not only a reflection of the Coalition’s mission, but a tribute to the farm families who pass on their passion for agriculture from one generation to the next.”
CSIF is a non-profit, non-lobbying organization that assists livestock farmers who want help interpreting rules and regulations, guidance on identifying good site locations for barns, counsel on enhancing neighbor relations and tips on how to protect the environment at no cost.
This positive, solutions-based approach to helping livestock farmers grow is a collaborative effort involving the Iowa Beef Industry Council, Iowa Cattlemen’s Association, Iowa Corn Growers Association, Iowa Farm Bureau Federation, Iowa Pork Producers Association, Iowa Poultry Association, Iowa Soybean Association, Iowa Turkey Federation and the Midwest Dairy Association.
